The Mutoh ValueJet VJ-1938TX Direct-to-Textile Printer incorporates the latest generation of piezo dual staggered print head design, offering variable drop printing; small droplets ideal for light fabrics and larger droplets ideal for thicker fabrics requiring higher ink loads. The VJ-1938TX accommodates a wide range of fabrics with a head height adjustable from 2.5 mm, 3.5 mm and up to 6 mm. A textile tensioning cylinder is positioned close to the print zone ensuring that the fabric is kept under equal tension over the full printer width during printing. Different roll widths are handled by front and back core fixation flanges, which can be easily and quickly adjusted into position. The integrated gutter system enables the VJ-1938TX prints on closed, open non-stretch and limited stretch fabrics.

The Mutoh ValueJet VJ-1938TX Direct-to-Textile Printer includes a motorised take-up system for media weights of up to 100 kg. The take-up system is a motorised unwinder/winder system. Ideal fabric transport is ensured by a sensor driven front and back tensioning system, allowing precise roll preparation for after treatment on a calendar, fixation unit, wash or even steam unit, depending on the chosen ink chemistry. Fabric unwinding supports both face-in and face-out rolled fabrics. Fabric winding is face-in (tension only) or face-out (tension or slack).

The Mutoh ValueJet VJ-1938TX Direct-to-Textile Printer works with Water-based Pigmented Direct Textile Inks. Water-based Pigmented Direct Textile Inks are available in 1000 ml CMYK bags, requiring an optional adapter. The Inks feature a green solution using only heat fixation, eliminating the need for post treatment washing or steaming. Water-based Pigmented Direct Textile Inks are compatible with cotton, silk, rayon, mixed fibre and PES.

Additionally, the Mutoh ValueJet VJ-1938TX works with Mutoh’s new DS2-Series Dye Sublimation Inks. Developed specifically for the ValueJet VJ-1938TX print heads, Mutoh’s DS2-Series inks produce excellent nozzle stability for high speed and high volume printing, delivering superior image sharpness and definition. The DS2-Series inks can be used for transfer printing or direct printing onto fabrics such as polyester or mixed fibres. Mutoh’s new water-based dye sublimation inks are odourless, during both the printing and the transfer process and produce rich, vibrant colours and offer excellent colourfastness.

For transfer printing, Mutoh DS2-Series inks are optimised for use in combination with dedicated coated sublimation papers of different weights. In addition to transfer to synthetic fibres, they can also be sued for transfer onto pre-treated rigid substrates (e.g. mugs, plates, magnetic vinyls, wood, place mats, Chroma Luxe plates, tiles, mirrors, acrylic glass, metal, nylon, lighters, pens, CD’s and more). Direct printing on to fabric requires drying and fixation process equipment, a calendar or a heat press.

Mutoh DS2-Series Dye Sublimation Inks deliver top scores in washing, perspiration, and light fastness properties, including UV durability. DS2 inks are Oeko-Tex compliant. After printing with DS2-Series inks onto transfer paper or polyester fabrics, a sublimation follow-up treatment (transfer) is required, through high pressure and temperature (calender), to fix the colours. When printing directly onto polyester fabrics with this ink type and after sublimation, the fabric needs to be washed before use, to remove the brownish dispersant and to fully release the vibrant colours typical for sublimation inks. Average ink consumption is 8.5 ml/m².
