The Mutoh ValueJet VJ-1638WX works with Mutoh’s new DS2-Series Dye Sublimation Inks. Developed specifically for the ValueJet VJ-1638WX print heads, Mutoh’s DS2-Series inks produce excellent nozzle stability for high speed and high volume printing, delivering superior image sharpness and definition. The DS2-Series inks can be used for transfer printing or direct printing onto fabrics such as polyester or mixed fibres. Mutoh’s new water-based dye sublimation inks are odourless, during both the printing and the transfer process and produce rich, vibrant colours and offer excellent colourfastness.
For transfer printing, Mutoh DS2-Series inks are optimised for use in combination with dedicated coated sublimation papers of different weights. In addition to transfer to synthetic fibres, they can also be sued for transfer onto pre-treated rigid substrates (e.g. mugs, plates, magnetic vinyls, wood, place mats, ChromaLuxe plates, tiles, mirrors, acrylic glass, metal, nylon, lighters, pens, CD’s and more). Direct printing on to fabric requires drying and fixation process equipment, a calendar or a heat press.
Mutoh DS2-Series Dye Sublimation Inks deliver top scores in washing, perspiration, and light fastness properties, including UV durability. DS2 inks are Oeko-Tex compliant. After printing with DS2-Series inks onto transfer paper or polyester fabrics, a sublimation follow-up treatment (transfer) is required, through high pressure and temperature (calender), to fix the colours. When printing directly onto polyester fabrics with this ink type and after sublimation, the fabric needs to be washed before use, to remove the brownish dispersant and to fully release the vibrant colours typical for sublimation inks. Average ink consumption is 8.5 ml/m².
The ValueJet VJ-1638WX comes with a set of pre-mounted and repositionable scroller supports at the back for easy single operator roll loading. These will enable non-motorised roll off of rolls up to a weight of 30kg.
Depending on your volume and application needs, Mutoh’s optional Take-Up Systems offer fully motorised roll-off and take-up systems for roll weights from 30 kg, 80kg, and 100kg.

Mutoh’s new wide piezo print head, new staggered dual head setup, and new generation electronics offers a unique blend of high speed and high quality. The wide piezo print head features 8-channel drop-on-demand inkjet technology. Each 1440 nozzle head includes four colour sections (C, M, Y, K) each divided in two nozzle rows with 360 nozzles per colour. All four colour sections are in one head, eliminating the need for head to head calibration. The integrated print heads are capable of producing ink drops ranging from 5.9 picoliters to 45.3 picoliters, resulting in incredible accuracy, sharpness, and speed. Increased accuracy and consistency of dot size and dot release during printing improves the image, in addition to increased dot gain control, allowing for more latitude in profile settings. New generation electronics include higher carriage speeds and ink firing frequencies and adapted weaving algorithms give an impressive increase in productions speed as well as optimised ink spread and improved drying.
Mutoh’s award-winning Intelligent Interweaving print technology drastically reduces or totally eliminates the typical difficulties inherent to conventional digital inkjet printing, including defects such as horizontal banding, ink mottle, bleed and the visible effects of missing or misfiring nozzles. Ink is laid down in waves, as opposed to straight lines used on most wide format printers. The biggest benefit of this proprietary Mutoh print technology is that it offers predictable and repeatable output quality, bringing an unprecedented level of user comfort to the printer operator.
DropMaster technology is a revolutionary print automation technique which eliminates the need for media dependent head adjustments. Specifically designed for Mutoh’s dual head ValueJet models, DropMaster automatically calculates and adjusts the uni/bi-directional fire timings by analysing the media thickness and drop-throw distance between print head and media surface.
