The Mutoh ValueJet VJ-628 utilises Mutoh Eco Ultra inks, making it suitable for installation in any working environment. A revolutionary variable drop piezo print head is at the heart of the Mutoh ValueJet VJ-628’s stunning performance. The ValueJet VJ-628 offers you a wide range of print modes and speeds:
- Quality – 720 x 720dpi: 4.6sqm/h
- Production – 720 x 720dpi: 9.0sqm/h
- Speed Production – 720 x 720dpi: 12.5sqm/h
This 1440-nozzle head comprises four colour sections. Each colour section has 360 nozzles, or two 180 nozzle rows per colour. Because all colour sections are in one head, there is no need for time-consuming head to head calibration routines. Drop size is from 3.5 picoliters to 35.2 picoliters.
Mutoh Eco Ultra Inks are by far the most popular inks on the market for outdoor sign applications on a wide range of uncoated and coated substrates. The inks are based on non-aggressive solvents and do not spread any harmful VOCs in the working environment. Available in easy-to-use cassettes and litre bags, Eco Ultra inks are Mutoh’s third generation of eco inks featuring improved ink fixation, better drying, higher print speeds and improved scratch resistance. Prints made with Eco Ultra inks are water resistant and offer an outdoor UV-resistance for up to three years outdoors. Ink Consumption is 8ml/sqm @720dpi with 67% coverage UV Durability 3 years outdoor without lamination.
The Mutoh ValueJet VJ-628 comes as a desktop printer with integrated roll holders for media up to 9kg. The ValueJet VJ-628 handles both 2″ and 3″ core rolls. The printer incorporates three heater zones. The heating elements will pre-heat the media, fix the ink and dry the output.

The drop-on-demand Micro Piezo Inkjet Technology features a single print head with 1440 nozzles divided into four colour sections. Each colour section has 360 nozzles, or two 180 nozzle rows per colour. Because all colour sections are united in one head, there is no need for time-consuming head-to-head calibration routines. The integrated print head is capable of producing ink drops ranging from 3.9 picoliters to 26.9 picoliters, resulting in incredible accuracy, sharpness, and speed. Increased accuracy and consistency of dot size and dot release during printing improves the image, in addition to increased dot gain control, allowing for more latitude in profile settings. New generation electronics include higher carriage speeds and ink firing frequencies and adapted weaving algorithms give an impressive increase in productions speed as well as optimised ink spread and improved drying.
Mutoh’s award-winning Intelligent Interweaving print technology drastically reduces or totally eliminates the typical difficulties inherent to conventional digital UV inkjet printing. Dedicated Intelligent Interweaving print effects for the Mutoh LED UV inks have been engineered, ensuring a drastic reduction of the curing structure in the ink layer and gloss banding suppression. The biggest benefit of this proprietary Mutoh print technology is that it offers predictable and repeatable output quality, bringing an unprecedented level of user comfort to the printer operator.
DropMaster technology is a revolutionary print automation technique which eliminates the need for media dependent head adjustments. Specifically designed for Mutoh’s dual head ValueJet models, DropMaster automatically calculates and adjusts the uni/bi-directional fire timings by analysing the media thickness and drop-throw distance between print head and media surface.
