The Mutoh DrafStation RJ-900XG is an attractively priced 42″ wide inkjet solvent printer for worry-free water-based inks free from VOCs. The DrafStation RJ-900XG features Mutoh’s award-winning Intelligent Interweaving and drop-on-demand micro piezo inkjet technologies, creating stunning output and consistent results. Offering resolution from 360, 540, 720, 1440, and 2880 dpi, the RJ-900XG features consistent quality for volume and short production runs.
The DrafStation RJ-900XG uses Mutoh DS2-Series dye sublimation inks designed for sublimation transfer printing and are optimised for use in combination with dedicated coated sublimation paper of different weights. Mutoh DS2-Series dye sublimation inks can be used for transfer onto pre-treated rigid substrates, such as mugs, plates, magnetic vinyls, wood, place mats, ChromaLuxe plates, tiles, mirrors, acrylic glass, metal nylon, lighters, pens, CDs, etc. The inks deliver excellent image definition and sharpness and specifically optimised for the latest generation piezo drop on demand print heads. The wide colour gamut produces vivid and bright colours and good colour-fastness.
SPECIFICATIONS
The DrafStation RJ-900XG is compatible with Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 and handles a wide choice of media, including both 2″ and 3″ rolls. The RJ-900XG prints on typical dye sublimation transfer papers ranging from 95 g/m2 to 100g/m2, making transfer on a wide range of flexible and rigid polyester materials possible. The RJ-900XG can take a media thickness width of 0.3 mm to 1.33 mm and accepts a maximum media width of 1080mm/42.51″ and can print a maximum print width of 1074mm/42.28″. Launched in 2015, the RJ-900XG replaces the previous models DrafStation RJ-900X, DrafStation Pro and DrafStation.
The Mutoh DrafStation RJ-900XG used drop-on-demand micro piezo inkjet technology, with a single print head including 180 nozzles configured in 8 lines and a range of drop mass of 3.4 to 49.5 picoliters. Minimum periodic maintenance is required, and the RJ-900XG allows flexibility of switching quickly between print jobs and low ink consumption. Print speeds are as follows:

The Mutoh DrafStation RJ-900XG uses Mutoh Series2 Dye Sublimation inks available in 1000 ml. The average ink consumption for graphics using the RJ-900XG is 8.5 ml/m2 on uncoated PVC at 720 dpi with 67% coverage. Series2 Dye Sublimation inks feature UV durability of 3 to 6 months outdoor. Options for the Mutoh DrafStation RJ-900XG include a motorised torque-controlled take-up system, dedicated RIP software, and a heat press or calendar. Continuous printing is made possible by the optional Mutoh Motorised Torque-Controlled Take-up System. For intensive graphics applications, dedicated RIP software is recommended. SAi FlexiPRINT SE12 Mutoh Edition RIP software for single workstation environments and Onyx 12 RIPCenter ValuePlus Mutoh Edition RIP software solutions make it easy to prepare jobs and create sellable prints faster. Both RIP solutions include a fully integrated print and cut workflow. The Mutoh UniFixer 65 will heat transfer dye sublimation prints from paper to fabric, or heat fix pre-printed fabrics. The UniFixer 65 is an affordable calender for heat transfer and thermofixation, compatible with both water based dye sublimation inks as well as water based direct disperse dye inks, ideal for short run and larger run production of indoor and outdoor banners, flags, sportswear, promotional apparel, decorative fabrics and more.

Mutoh’s drop-on-demand micro piezo inkjet technology features a single 1440 nozzle variable drop piezo inkjet head (CMYK). The print head is configured with 8 lines of 180 nozzles. All four colour sections are in one head, eliminating the need for head to head calibration. The print heads are capable of producing ink drops ranging from 3.4 picoliters to 49.5 picoliters, resulting in accuracy, sharpness, and speed.
Mutoh’s award-winning Intelligent Interweaving, print technology drastically reduces or totally eliminates the typical difficulties inherent to conventional digital inkjet printing, including defects such as horizontal banding, ink mottle, bleed and the visible effects of missing or misfiring nozzles. Ink is laid down in waves, as opposed to straight lines used on most wide format printers.
